Wladimir Klitschko withdraws from the fight against France's Jean-Marc Mormeck

Wladimir Klitschko withdraws from the fight against France's Jean-Marc Mormeck this weekend after two operations in two days to remove a kidney stone.

The 39-year-old Mormeck is a former WBC and WBA unified cruiserweight champion has won all his fights since moving to the heavyweight division in 2009. He has a career record of 36 wins (22 KOs) and four defeats.

Saturday's fight was supposed to be Klitschko's 20th title bout and his first appearance since beating Britain's David Haye in July. His record is 56-3 with 49 KOs.

The Fight has been rescheduled for March 3 in Dusseldorf.

Jean Marc Mormeck (36-4, 22 KO's)

Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (56-3, 49 KO's) will be fighting his hand-picked opponent 39-year-old Jean Marc Mormeck (36-4, 22 KO's) in a fight at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Wladimir, 35, is saying this is the best opponent he could find out of the top 20 list of contenders. After handing David Haye a decisive loss in July, Wladimir Klitschko is moving on to meet Jean Marc Mormeck in a Dusseldorf ring, in many ways, the fight highlights the problems facing Dr. Steelhammer in the future, because while Mormeck is a good fighter, it is hard to describe him as a credible heavyweight contender. Mormeck is a prime example of the boxing traditions of France. In crusierweight terms, he is a strong boxer-puncher with solid chin, good skills and ring smarts.

Klitschko's second reign as heavyweight champ began more than five years ago, and during that time he has risen to become the all-but undisputed champion. Only his older brother Vitali holds a fragment of the crown, and while many think of Vitali as being the stronger fighter, Wladimir is the busier and more accomplished boxer.
